Nobsrine is a surprisingly simple but weird sounding instrument controlled with 2 knobs and 2 portmanteau switches. It samples the turns and energy of knob twists to modulate triangle oscillators and you can get a shifting range of unusual moans, drones, and shrieks. It's on a 3.5mm stereo output so you can mix/isolate/pan the oscillators for stereo effects or processing.
Credit where it's due of course, this is an unofficial Peter Blasser/Ciat-Lonbarde build, the original paper circuit (and lots of other cool stuff) can be found here - www.ciat-lonbarde.net/paper/
I've transferred the original design to PCB. There's a lot of soldering so it would be beneficial if you have some previous experience.
All materials, tools, and equipment will be provided.
The workshop will last ~8 hours (including a break for lunch) but we'll keep things laid back so, if you're booking trains or anything, please give yourself a reasonable buffer.
We won't be assembling cases or anything like that but you'll take home a fully functioning synth ready to mount inside your own case. I'll have some front panels available too if you're interested in using those.
The studio is on the 3rd floor and only accessible via stairs. Trafalgar Studios, Trafalgar Warehouse, 118 Trafalgar Street, Sheffield, S1 4JT.
Groups will be a maximum of 4 people. There'll be good ventilation and it would be better if participants do an LFT test before attending.
Booking tickets early is greatly appreciated (to help with ordering materials) but if you're worried about paying up-front, please email and we can try and make arrangements.
Feel free to ask questions.
