This is my fist Rollz-5 build, stripped back and re-worked for improved sound/feel, and now for sale to help fund future projects. It's scrappy, made on paper instead of PCB, and in a makeshift case. Pricing reflects this.
Rollz-5 is a collections of circuits that create a kind of drum machine. Rollz (of which there are 5 circuits in total) generate organic, rhythmic pulses from geometric forms (each circuit is a kind of astable multivibrator). This Rollz pulse-brain circuitry is then hooked up to several 'translators' which filter ultrasonic pulses into audible rhythms. Each of these translators, Ultrasound Filters, Gongs, and AV Dogs, making unique collections of bongs, hisses, fizzles, toms, bleeps, and groans.
Credit where it's due of course, this is built from Peter Blasser/Ciat-Lonbarde paper circuits which can be found here - www.ciat-lonbarde.net/paper/
This is a prototype built on paper (not PCB) and stuffed into a makeshift case from some old bamboo boxes and scrap hardboard. It's fugly but fun.
Playable by either patching or touch (though you'll need your own patch cables or get some spiral/twangle touchies from the shop). Each playing method has its pros and cons. Patching leads to dense clouds of toms and noise of which you can shift around the maelstrom via re-patching or unplugging some bits and leaving them dangling. Touch interfaces help bring out loose jumbles of groans, fizzes, and bongs, emphasised by your own body conductivity.
This is 9V battery operated (if you want to hack it to plug into the wall you do so at your own risk).
